Tanina’s dance training began at Chester Valley Dance Academy in 2000. There, she was trained in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, contemporary, hip-hop, and pointe work. She performed featured roles in the studio’s annual Nutcracker productions as Clara, Dew Drop, and Sugar Plum Fairy. She has received additional dance training at The Rock School West and the Joffrey Ballet School. She has performed alongside The Young Americans and has had the opportunity to have her choreography presented at the regional and international dance festivals. She has choreographed various musical productions like West Side Story (2016), Into the Woods (2017), The Emperor’s New Clothes (2018), 9 to 5 (2018), Mamma Mia (2019), Chicago (2020), and Mary Poppins (2022). She has completed the Broadway Dance Center Dance Educator Workshop and has attended the American College Dance Association Northeastern Conference. Her choreography provides a vocabulary of fierce, passionate, explosive expression of movement with a calm and easeful approach of execution.
She has taught in various studios and independent schools in the Greater Philadelphia area like Chester Valley Dance Academy and the Agnes Irwin School. Most notably, she taught at Villa Maria Academy High School where she directed the Dance Company and built the school’s dance department from the ground up creating a supportive environment where all students can explore the art of dance. Currently, she is on staff at Joanne Langione Dance Center in Newton, MA.
